Litter Bugs

I can’t seem to get under my own feet the last few days… well, weeks! So Here are a few post of the fun things that we have been doing here at Spark Preschool!!!

In honor of Earth Day, we were talking about RECYCLING!

I was excited about how this worked out on a whim.

After doing the morning routine, and some of “this and that” we went outside to soak up some sun, and enjoy a little snack from Mr. Cannon.

The the idea hit me… We could “Recycle” this

into this…

And with our Juice bottles, make little litter bugs! Here are the kids’ creations.

Aren’t they so good! Then we talked some about how to reuse the things that would otherwise be garbage. How to make something out of “nothing.” They all thought it was pretty cool that they could make a “friend” out of a drink bottle.

So Adorable

Marshmallow Mouths

Today for our life skill we talked about the Dentist. I found this cute idea to do these Marshmallow Mouths!

Making our mouths… glue those teeth in!

Then we talked about the best way to brush our teeth… while singing this song!

Brush Brush Brush your teeth

Brush them everyday

Brush them up and brush them down

in little circle all around!

Each kiddo got a new tooth brush and gave it a good try!

Then we talked about flossing… Not everyone was into this FUN idea… but Cannon and Addisyn were loving every minuet of it!

9-1-1 and a little Review

Today was a good day. The kids listened very well, and I am so proud of them. It makes for a VERY ENJOYABLE DAY!!! I have fallen in love with each of them. I have seen so much growth over the last few months. They really are great kids!

Today we did a review of the letters Mm and Nn. I really had to emphasize that they were 2 different letters. They sound a like, and look alike, and some of the kids said Mm and Mm, or Nn and Nn while we sang the Alphabet.  The kids are always excited when we review the letters up our Coconut Tree.

Like we do on review days, I have the upper, and lower case letters on popsicle sticks. When it is their turn to draw on the board, they draw a stick to see what letter they are going to write that day. Look at how wonderful everyone drew the letters.

Evelyn hadn’t made it to school yet, so we didn’t get a picture of her practicing the letters.

After we did our worksheet, and practiced writing our M’s or N’s on the board, we made M&M M’s. I had a little baggie full of 21 m&m’s. I told the kids they couldn’t eat them, and if they didn’t they would get some later! NOT ONE M&M was ate! I was so proud of them. They were all such excellent listeners today.

They didn’t get to take them home today, as the glue is still drying. So, they will bring them home tomorrow.

I couldn’t get a picture of the kids with them, because they are still drying and the m&m’s would just slide right off the paper. Smile

While everyone finished there M’s we had some free play. It was puzzles and blocks today…

Then it was upstairs for snack and a movie. Today we started to learn all about 9-1-1. I have an excellent movie, that is short enough that it keeps the kids attention through the entire show. It talks about the different style of phones, and gives different scenarios of emergencies.

Here is a little part of the movie I found on You Tube. It is just excellent.

Cell Phone Sally

After the movie was over we talked about different types of emergencies. Then we played on these phones I made, to located the numbers 9-1-1. They practiced dialing the numbers.

They all did amazing! I asked over and over again “What do you do if you have an emergency?” They all responded “Call 9-1-1.”

Just a reminder that there is school tomorrow. This will make up one of the missed days.

Have a wonderful day!

Stranger Danger and the letter L

First off to my parents, sorry for having to cancel school on Tuesday. Thanks for being so great to work with.

Today we did the letter L. I asked the kids what words they could think of that start with L, and they said; lollipop, lick, leaf, lion, just to name a few.

Today when we did our L worksheet, even my 2 and 3 year olds traced the L’s. I was very happy about that.

For arts and crafts we made little oatmeal lambs. First step was to cut out the lamb.

Then we had to past them on a sheet of paper. Then spread glue where “wool” is, and cover it with oatmeal. The finished project is so cute!!! See for yourself…

During snack we learned about Strangers, and what we need to do. I had the kids watch this little movie…

We also learned this chorus of this song…

We are smart we know what to do, were going to say NO to you…We sang it over and over again. I really emphasized the importance of knowing what to do if someone approaches them.

We also talked about having a family code. Some word that only the family knows. This came up because we saw a little video clip about a stranger saying “Your mom is at the emergency room, you need to come with me.” The little girl asked what the code was, the stranger didn’t have the answer so she ran away as fast as she could. So if they ask about that, it is because we briefly talked about it.

Have a wonderful weekend!!! Just a reminder that scholastic book orders are due on Tuesday.

Also, I think I will do a make-up day on Wednesday next week. Let me know if this will work with your schedule.
