G is for Giraffe…

Today was such a great day. Not for any particular reason, just that the kids were excellent, things went smoothly, and we had a lot of fun!!! I know I have so much to catch up on, and I hope to, but thought I would start with today!!!

Before I do that I want to introduce…

Abigail and Bennett

I started watching these cute little ones last week. They have become part of our Preschool class, and have found there way into everyone's hearts very easily. They are loving the excitement, and all the fun activities. WELCOME TO SPARK PRESCHOOL Abigail & Bennett.

After our morning routine reviewing months, days, season, weather etc…  I introduced the letter Gg. The kids were excited to name aloud all of the words they could think of that started with G. Then we took turns writing on the dry erase board. Look at these G’s…

They all did a pretty good job practicing the upper and lowercase G’s on the worksheet. I can see a huge improvement with some of my younger kids, and it makes me so excited. They all have so much potential, and I love to see the growth in them.

It is no secret that Arts & Crafts is my favorite part of the day, and I think it is for most of my kids as well. Today we made Giant Giraffes! They are the cutest darn things. Can I just tell you how elated I am that most of the kids have there scissor skills down, and can cut out a picture! It makes me so excited. So excited. I know it is such a small thing, but such a HUGE step for me. I have to tell you, today Logan was wanting me to cut out his Giraffe head. I would reassure him that he could do it, and tell him that I wasn’t going to do it for him today. At one point he said “ I am going to be frustrated with you.” I laughed inside and told him… “You just keep trying, I know you can do it.” Well by the time he had his giraffe head cut out he was SO EXCITED that he accomplished it, and was grinning from ear to ear!!!

After our Giraffes were assembled, it was time to get “dirty”… Giraffes have spots, so what better way to add sport then to use our fingers. Bennett said “It’s like playing in the mud.”

THEY LOVED IT!!! I kept saying “Dip… Dot…” Most of them would repeat it with me, it was so cute.

After snack, it was upstairs for story time.

We read “My g Box.” I just love these books. I know I have said that so many times, but I really do. They are very interactive with the kids, and make them laugh, and smile.

For our Life Skill today we talked about the importance of stretching. Look at them stretch…

We sang while stretching… “I’m all made of hinges…,”  “Head shoulders knees and toes” and “I’m a little tea pot…”

G’s & H’s

What a zoo it was today! Laughing… the kids must have had excellent weekends, because they came full of energy! I love it though, they make me laugh, and there energy is contagious so you just can’t help but be happy with them.

Grace got to take Mr. Spark home, and was so excited to share her stories with us…

022

  1. Grace and Spark had a Dance Party.
  2. Grace and Spark ate some phat boys together.
  3. Spark got ready for basketball.
  4. Took Spark to hard working store, and had a picnic there.
  5. Spark and Grace helped mom make chocolate chip cookies.
  6. Grace, Spark, Bennett and mommy took a walk to the creek.
  7. Spark met Elle, Bennetts Elephant.
  8. They watched Sandlot together.
  9. Spark listened to Grace sing some Taylor Swift.
  10. Grace and Spark helped mommy paint the bathroom.

Oh what a fabulous weekend they  had together. Spark is so lucky to have been able to go home with you Grace.

Before we stated, we did Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes… to get the wiggles out…and boy did they have a lot of them today!

We then talked about things that start with the letter G. They said things like, Goat, Ghost, Grace, and Go. Then we discussed the same thing with the letter H. Head, hat, hand and hello were what they came up with.

They all did excellent at writing the upper and lower case letter. I was very impressed!!!

Then it was more practice writing our G’s & H’s. I was working on proper technique with them. Making sure they look perfect. For the most part they all have these two letters down! Yeah!!!

016 017

I love watching them use scissors. They are getting so good at cutting on the lines. I love encouraging them along the way when they say they “I can’t” do that. I love to see the look on there face, and here the excited “I did it,” when they are done!!!

This was our craft today. It was perfect since it was a little bit of a zoo!

Aren’t they just so darling!!!

We introduced some new site words today; or, her, there, this, some. We repeated these a lot today. Using them in various sentences. Repetition is very important while learning something in such a short period of time.  Please continue to repeat these words, and practice them and the previous words with them. THANKS so much for you help.

I am grateful for my little Zoo, even on crazy days like today. These kids make me so happy. I love being a small part of there lives.

G is for Groundhog

I was so excited for Groundhogs Day this year. Not because it is a holiday that I look forward to, but because I had some fun things planned for the kids. BUT… have it as it may, 2 of my kids came down with a cruddy cold, and we had to cancel preschool that day. So the following week I decided that we would still highlight the little groundhog.

    • If the groundhog sees his shadow winter will last another 6 weeks.
    • If he doesn’t see his shadow, then spring is on his way.
    • Punxsutawney’s most famous groundhog Phil predicted an early spring.
    • This is his 125th annual weather prediction.
    • Phil has seen his shadow 98 times, and hasn’t seen it just just 16 times since 1887.

I am so impressed with the way all 5 of them are learning. They have overcome some of the hurdles that they had in front of them when we first started this school year.

029

For a craft today what better then a groundhog that comes out of his hole and can or can not see his shadow!!!

Meet my little groundhog… Isn’t he just so darn cute!

034

What is it about kids and painting that makes them so excited? They all love it so much. So this project was a huge hit, even if the only colors they used were brown & green.

032

Happy Groundhog Day! I hope Phil is right, and spring is on it’s way.

{In out neck of the woods, it doesn’t seem to promising}
