Happy Easter

Just a Reminder: There will be NO SCHOOL on Thursday April 5, 2012! Sorry for any inconveniences this may cause.

Since there is no school on Thursday, we celebrated Easter today. It was a fun filled day. We did miss a few students, and hope they had a wonderful day. We did however have an extra student today, Aidan, Bennett’s brother. We are so happy you could join us today!

We started the day with some painting, so we had some drying time. What where we painting? Easter Baskets!

Then while they were drying we said “I can count to 20” as we are starting our number review portion of our curriculum. I can’t believe there are only 2 more months of preschool! Crazy…

It is a cute little song. The kids were really starting to learn it. We will be singing this one again as we continue our number review! I want each kiddo to be able to count to twenty without hesitation. That is where they expect them to count going into Kindergarten! So I have made that my goal. 

Then after some of our regular morning routine we colored our Easter eggs.

You just can’t celelbrate Easter without having an Easter Egg hunt! I was getting short on time, so instead of hiding them outside like I had planned, we hid them in the living room. There aren’t very many hiding spots… so after hiding some of the 80+ eggs, I finally just tossed them on the floor. DSC_0151

The kids didn’t seem to care. They were just happy to be running around, gathering eggs!!!

After the egg hunts {yes hunt’s} were over, it was time to read a quick book before the kids headed home. I got each of them this cute little book for Easter…

So we read it. Then it was time to end the day!

It was a great day.

Again, there is no school on Thursday.

1-10 Review

Today we did a lot of fun activities to review the numbers 1-10! I didn’t take a ton of pictures, but we did have a lot of fun. One of the activities we did was to roll the dice, and draw the number it landed on.

They had fun with it. While they ate snack, we watch our numbers movie one last time.

The Great Number 8!!!

Today we learned the number 8. I was very impressed with how well each of them wrote them on the board.

I really try to encourage them to draw 8’s on the worksheet. I have been encouraging good effort by putting a sticker on the page after they draw one by themselves. They are all doing such a great job, and have grown so much in the last few months!

Then we sang “The Itsy Bitsy Spider” to introduce our craft project. We made spiders for two reasons:

  • 1-Because spooky spiders are such a huge part of Halloween.
  • 2- Because (most) Spiders have 8 legs!

My huge motive with this craft was to work on scissor skills. I have had to make a few adjustments with our curriculum while we work on them. This was a good way for them to try and cut a strait line.

At the end of the day, I had the kids practice writing their names. I have made each of them laminated name cards that they trace with dry erase markers. They are fun, and it makes them excited to see themselves accomplish something so huge!
