A is for… alligator

Today we had an AMAZING day. The kids are just adorable. We were blessed to have little Miss Oakleigh in class with us today as well. She is my little niece and just added to the cuteness for sure.

Since I started this little session of preschool a few months late, I am trying to squeeze everything into the 6 months we have. So some days we are doing a lot, but the kids are doing amazing with it, so as of right now I don’t think I will make any changes. Even though we have only been in school for a few weeks, I have seen a lot of improvements with these little 3 and 4 year olds. They are doing great.

Today our focus was on: Aa, square, and blue. We did talk about the number 2 as well.

I am continually encouraging the kids not to say “I can’t,” and letting them know that they can do anything they want to do. It isn’t important if it is perfect, just that they did the best that they could do right now. I love to see how excited they get when they do accomplish something they they believed they couldn’t do.

Isn’t that a scary bunch of Alligators? They did so good, and for the most part with no help from me. I encouraged and showed proper ways to do it, but I let them run with this. You should really be impressed with your little ones!!! I know I am. Smile

We sang “5 little Monkeys.” They might not have it completely memorized yet, but they loved it. See if they can remember it…

“Five Little Monkey's Swinging in the Tree”
Five little monkey’s swinging in the tree teasing Mr. Alligator can’t catch me….can’t catch me along came Mr. Alligator quiet as can be and snapped that monkey right out that tree

Four little monkey’s swinging in the tree teasing Mr. Alligator can’t catch me….can’t catch me along came Mr. Alligator quiet as can be and snapped that monkey right out that tree

Three little monkey’s swinging in the tree teasing Mr. Alligator can’t catch me….can’t catch me along came Mr. Alligator quiet as can be and snapped that monkey right out that tree

Two little monkey’s swinging in the tree teasing Mr. Alligator can’t catch me….can’t catch me along came Mr. Alligator quiet as can be and snapped that monkey right out that tree

One little monkey’s swinging in the tree teasing Mr. Alligator can’t catch me….can’t catch me along came Mr. Alligator quiet as can be and snapped that monkey right out that tree

No more monkey’s swinging in the tree!

Here is one I found on you tube!

FOR MY PARENTS:

Please remember that there will be no preschool on Tuesday November 19th. Again, I apologize for this.

Thanks for everything. You have a wonderful weekend!!!

Have you ever…

This is going to be a short post… so sorry, but time is slipping away today!

We made the most adorable turkeys today. I love them because they are  not perfect at all. But each is completely unique, and the kids made them almost all by themselves. I gave them strips of paper and told them to cut feathers. I LOVE how excited they got when they made a complete cut down the strip of paper. It is the little things that mean the most to them.

1st Day of School {2013}

HELLO!!!
It has been a long time. BUT, I am so excited to be back in the classroom teaching little kiddos again. I have missed how much fun it is to have them in my home.

I have been watching kids for the last year. Not leaving much time for preschool. With a recent change in my schedule, I was open to starting preschool again. Being November, I wasn’t sure exactly what would happen, but figured I would just give it a chance. I have a little 3 year old, Cooper, that I needed to start working with, so I figured regardless of how many students I would have, I would start teaching preschool again.

Today was my first day. I was excited, nervous and anxious. I only have 4 students {including Cooper}. And I was surprised and excited with today!

Today we practiced; beginning writing skills, scissor skills, and the 1st letter of their name. It was a great day. Over the next few weeks, I will be adapting to the children's skills, needs, and desires.

What a great 1st day of school!!! So excited for the next 6 months.

Play Dough Alphabet

I can’t believe that it is getting to be the end of this school year.

I will admit this year has been a bit of a challenge.

But, I love a challenge. I love these kids. I really do. I have seen so much growth over the last year with them. They truly are great, each in their own individual way!

Today for our review I thought it would be fun to take some play dough, and make letters out of them…

So adorable! They loved it, and were all smiles. My little Cannon made lots of letters, while some only made a few! It was fun for them.

Litter Bugs

I can’t seem to get under my own feet the last few days… well, weeks! So Here are a few post of the fun things that we have been doing here at Spark Preschool!!!

In honor of Earth Day, we were talking about RECYCLING!

I was excited about how this worked out on a whim.

After doing the morning routine, and some of “this and that” we went outside to soak up some sun, and enjoy a little snack from Mr. Cannon.

The the idea hit me… We could “Recycle” this

into this…

And with our Juice bottles, make little litter bugs! Here are the kids’ creations.

Aren’t they so good! Then we talked some about how to reuse the things that would otherwise be garbage. How to make something out of “nothing.” They all thought it was pretty cool that they could make a “friend” out of a drink bottle.

So Adorable

Little Lady Bug

This will be a fast post, but today we did the final review of our numbers.  We did these cute little lady bugs. Why? Because they had to count the spots, and legs. It was great practice.

Didn’t they turn out adorable!

Sorry for the short post, just wanted to show you what we made today!!!
