Litter Bugs

I can’t seem to get under my own feet the last few days… well, weeks! So Here are a few post of the fun things that we have been doing here at Spark Preschool!!!

In honor of Earth Day, we were talking about RECYCLING!

I was excited about how this worked out on a whim.

After doing the morning routine, and some of “this and that” we went outside to soak up some sun, and enjoy a little snack from Mr. Cannon.

The the idea hit me… We could “Recycle” this

into this…

And with our Juice bottles, make little litter bugs! Here are the kids’ creations.

Aren’t they so good! Then we talked some about how to reuse the things that would otherwise be garbage. How to make something out of “nothing.” They all thought it was pretty cool that they could make a “friend” out of a drink bottle.

So Adorable

Stranger Danger and the letter L

First off to my parents, sorry for having to cancel school on Tuesday. Thanks for being so great to work with.

Today we did the letter L. I asked the kids what words they could think of that start with L, and they said; lollipop, lick, leaf, lion, just to name a few.

Today when we did our L worksheet, even my 2 and 3 year olds traced the L’s. I was very happy about that.

For arts and crafts we made little oatmeal lambs. First step was to cut out the lamb.

Then we had to past them on a sheet of paper. Then spread glue where “wool” is, and cover it with oatmeal. The finished project is so cute!!! See for yourself…

During snack we learned about Strangers, and what we need to do. I had the kids watch this little movie…

We also learned this chorus of this song…

We are smart we know what to do, were going to say NO to you…We sang it over and over again. I really emphasized the importance of knowing what to do if someone approaches them.

We also talked about having a family code. Some word that only the family knows. This came up because we saw a little video clip about a stranger saying “Your mom is at the emergency room, you need to come with me.” The little girl asked what the code was, the stranger didn’t have the answer so she ran away as fast as she could. So if they ask about that, it is because we briefly talked about it.

Have a wonderful weekend!!! Just a reminder that scholastic book orders are due on Tuesday.

Also, I think I will do a make-up day on Wednesday next week. Let me know if this will work with your schedule.

L is for Lion

Today was the review of the letters K and L. I feel like I am leaving a letter out when I only focus on one of them, laughing... but what do you do when you have a short summer program and 26 letters to conquer! After going over the days of the week, the months of the year, and the Pledge of Allegiance I re-introduced K and L.

Today…

L is for LION

Today we started with our site words. I was introducing 8 new words. So meet the site words; of, the, it, he, you, in, I, to.

These kiddos love to take turns writing on the white board. We draw names (written on popsicle sticks) as to who gets to go first. They just love it, and all scream “pick me,” as they anticipate who gets to go. I also really enjoy this because it give me the perfect chance to critic, and teach, proper technique. There all doing so well, I am so proud of them.

I have this cute little book that turns each letter of the alphabet into an animal shaped like the letter they start with. So today it was an L made into a LION! Just too cute.

After we created our lions, I had each of the kiddos pick out a book. We read lots of little books about animals. Deegan picked out an “Eye Spy” book. They had fun with that (Look at all those little fingers pointing to the answer).  070

You can’t study Lions without going on an African Safari.  We watched this You Tube video, and learned this cute little song.

“Where going on a Lion Hunt…”

After we learned it, what better to do then GO ON A LION HUNT…

Look at that Lion hiding in the trees!!! What a great adventure.

What a great class. We missed Emma today, and can’t wait to see her on Thursday!

Addi had the opportunity to play with Mr. Spark…

  • Addi didn’t let Spark leave her site much during the few days she had him.
  • They Danced and Danced and Danced together.
  • They even watched “Zaboomafoo” and learned about other animals..
  • They cuddled a lot, and were good company to each other.
  • He slept with her every night.
  • and they played together a lot. It was a great deal of fun!!!

Can’t wait to hear all about Spark and Deegan’s great adventures!!!

A…L…N Review…& FALL

On the last week of the month we will be doing REVIEW of the letters we have learned that month. So we did a great little review of A,L, & N.  There was lots and lots of writing the letters on the board, and tracing letters on the worksheets.  The kids are still struggling a bit with the lowercase n, and lowercase a. I might suggest a little special one on one time with you are your kiddo, working on these 2 letters. BUT they are doing so well, and I am very very proud of them. preschool 001

After our lesson time was over, we did a FALL craft, to celebrate the start of a new season. This is my favorite season of all.

First things first…Off to pick some leaves! This was very very fun, and got the wiggles out. :)

THEN…we were making our own fall trees with the fall leaves we had just picked. It was so much fun. They were all very excited to decorate their tree. (I however was hot gluing the leaves on, so they told me what leave to use, and where to put it…)

After (and during) Creating our Fall trees, we had Alphabet shaped tater tots. WOW!!! What a great little find at Broulims. So exciting, and very interactive with the kids. They would yell out the letter that they had before they ate it. There were lots of questions as to “What is this letter???”  I LOVED it. I will have to buy more of these for sure. They were a huge hit.
